Creek Bottom Brewing Company has been a successful brewery, restaurant and craft beer market in Galax, VA since 2013. Creek Bottom produces six year around beers and multiple seasonal ales from our attached brewery in the Galax location. The restaurant focuses on wood-fired brick-oven pizza, smoked wings, handcrafted sammiches & awesome appetizers. Order up a brew from the 22 taps in VA or the 32 taps in NC. Customers can also choose from plenty of craft beers from other breweries which are available.

Fox Creek General store has a fabulous full-service deli! Everything is home-made and made-from-scratch.  The locals love the Fox Creek Smoked Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with homemade coleslaw. Stop by this friendly mercantile/deli and let them serve you!

Barter theatre

During the Great Depression, Robert Porterfield, an enterprising young actor, returned to his native Southwest Virginia with an extraordinary proposition: Bartering produce from the farms and gardens of the region to gain admission to a play.

On June 10, 1933, Barter Theatre opened its doors, proclaiming "With vegetables you cannot sell, you can buy a good laugh." The price of admission was 40 cents or equivalent amount of produce. Four out of five Depression-era theatregoers paid their way with vegetables, dairy products and livestock.

Today, at least one performance a year celebrates the Barter heritage by accepting donations for an area food bank as the price of admission. To find this year's "Barter Day" dates.
